There's already a comment to this effect from Juan.  I'm working on it.  By necessity, this test case will still be relatively large in order to reproduce the issue, but llvm-reduce has taken it down to 344 lines so far.  I apologize for the sloppiness of this PR.  I was in a hurry last night and shouldn't have gone forward with it without taking more care.  

As to the named variables, assuming the test case doesn't get much smaller than 344 lines, that's a lot of work.  Is it really necessary?
