Andy Kaylor added this functionality in a commit from 2012 <https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/commit/cc7773bdcbecf893cb9442a77cdf5e41f2af4256#diff-63193cf7dbc02d26c41388ef7b915ed5R130>.  So it is better if Andy reviews the change.
