No concerns from me now after the discussion above. My main concerns were it looked like a potential ABI break and the original PR wasn't reviewed. @ChuanqiXu9 I know you're a maintainer, but it doesn't hurt to have more eyes on it especially when it comes to backporting. @AaronBallman thanks for taking a look!
