It might be a matter of preference/getting-used-to, but I find it a bit tricky to parse `CHECK` lines interleaved with the original code - especially when it's 1-2 lines at a time (too much context switching and the cognitive load is relatively high).

No need to change anything, just sharing personal view and to see how others feel about this.
