Well having said that, there is a pattern [`populateMoveInitOperandsToInput`](https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/90d03a0386a6b9640e50513f6948cd2549937208/mlir/include/mlir/Dialect/Linalg/Transforms/Transforms.h#L1979`) that already seems to do some of this. Maybe if you run that "before" your pass it will fix the issue for you. I think that pattern was added explicitly to fix such "ill-defined" operations.
