Is this change motivated by some recent PR to dataflow, or is this more clenaup work intended to fix the fact that the documentation has gone quite stale?

If it's the former, can we get a reference to the change?

If the latter, thanks for following up on this! I'll let folks who're more familiar with dataflow stuff have the chance to take a look before I stamp this.
