Planning a virtual conference is new to us and I appreciate your patience as we are figuring out all the details. Below are a few of the questions I anticipate you might have, but please feel free to reach out if I missed anything. Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing some detailed tutorials to help guide you with what to expect during the virtual conference.

2020 Virtual LLVM Developers' Meeting FAQ:

What software are you using for the virtual conference?

We are using Whova <https://whova.com/> as the conference platform. I realize that this platform may unfamiliar to many and we will be providing details about how to navigate the agenda and participate in the conference in the coming weeks.

What time zone and hours is the conference in?

The conference will run from approximately 8:00AM to 1:30PM PDT on Oct 6-8. Exact timings can be found in the agenda that will be posted on the website soon but is in the Whova App. We will be adding social events as well.

Are talks pre-recorded or live?

All technical talks, tutorials, student research competition talks, and lightning talks are pre-recorded. However, all (except lightning talks) will have a live Q&A session. Pre-recorded talks will be provided a few days before the event. On the day of the conference, we will live stream the pre-recorded talk and then switch to a live Q&A session at the end (last 10 minutes for most talks). We will recorded the Q&A portion to include in the final video when it is posted on the LLVM YouTube channel. We hope this will satisfy the needs of many individuals who want to either watch ahead of time or watch it live.

Birds of a Feather sessions will be live through a Zoom call and not recorded

How will round tables work?

While we are still working out the details, we envision round tables will occur through video chat and be live during the event. The exact details will be shared in the coming weeks and we will pre-schedule many of the round tables ahead of time.

Will we have a poster session?

The poster session will be a live event during the conference. More details will be shared soon as we finalize the software choice for this portion.

Will there be any networking or social opportunities?

Yes! We strongly believe that networking is one of the most beneficial parts of our in-person conference and want to try to replicate it in our virtual conference. We do have plans on how to accomplish this and will be sharing in one of our upcoming tutorials as we finalize the details.

Can I get a T-Shirt?

Yes! We have created an online store <https://www.bonfire.com/store/llvm-foundation/> (https://www.bonfire.com/store/llvm-foundation/) that you can purchase a conference T-Shirt. You must order by September 16th to get it before the conference, but they will be for sale through October.
