Great! I'm glad to see it coming along. Could you maybe explain a
couple changes and improvements since the previous version?

Just a few days ago somebody in IRC was looking for documentation on
how to write a backend. Your book was one of the first resources I
suggested, and it seems like it helped them a lot :) Keep up the great
work!
