It very well may be. It's a slightly older version of the GCC (Red Hat
4.1.2-42) than on the installation I have access to, where the default
GCC cannot compile LLVM. I'd suggest downloading the LLVM GCC binaries
from <http://llvm.org/releases/download.html#2.4> and use them as a
bootstrap compiler.
