Basically LGTM. I see a comment mentioning testing for robustness against DCE ,but I don't see that in the remaining tests ... was this present in an earlier version of the patch?

please check w/ other reviewers before landing. In particular, I see @MaskRay had a question that seems worth answering/discussing.
