The issue is coming from https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/main/llvm/lib/CodeGen/TargetInstrInfo.cpp#L58-L60. Like you said, it is because INSERT_SUBREG is a generic operation and it does work by constraining the register, so I have updated the patch to reflect that.
