[ELF] Linkerscript: symbol assignments with indentifiers on the right side of expression.
In symbol assignments symbol may appear on the right-hand side of the expression:

kernphys = CONSTANT (MAXPAGESIZE);
. = kernbase + kernphys + SIZEOF_HEADERS;
Patch implements that.
