The spiller does “split" live-ranges when it inserts the spill code.
E.g., consider
a = something
…
= a
This becomes after spill:
a1 = something
st a1, @a
…
a2 = ld @a
= a2
Thus, we split a into three variables: a1, a2, @a. Right now, this is usually not a problem because our splitting mechanism would have inserted the right split points before trying to spill. However, there are cases where this is not accurate:
1. When rematerialization happens.
2. When we fold the memory operand directly in the instruction.
