MSVC's codegen is very similar to what you would expect if you compiled
with /homeparams. Otherwise, it is hard to imagine why they would use
rsp+16 instead of say, rsp+8 to store the parent frame pointer. I imagine
their codegen is like this for convenience, not out of any special
restriction. It isn't too hard for us to do something similar though. For
them to notice would require them to examine the stack after the catch
handler returns which would personally surprise me quite a bit.
I guess using the shadow space is more efficient, I'll give it a shot.
