I'm assuming you don't need -fno-strict-aliasing?
You could avoid the need for -O1 by marking 'callee' as always_inline
as well, right?
(& -g V -gline-tables-only - yeah, either's fine there)

Might be worth/might as well check that the last metadata operand is
[[A]] to demonstrate that it's inlined in the right place?
