  So I guess I misunderstood the intention of the code and should not pursue this direction. I'll revert this patch. I'll support linker-generated symbols in the way as Nick suggested. Thank you for that idea!

  I don't think of any use of deadStripAlways in COFF. We should drop it. I'll do that in a different patch.
