Painful experience from the period when there were no alternatives, or
the alternatives were painful and/or slow -- on an 80386 or 68020-class
box, it helps that the shell is already resident in memory. I still
use ksh for various small personal tools, and over the years I've
accumulated a fair number of code snippets, and fill-in-the-blanks
templates for new scripts.
