I don't have time to look at the patches in detail and attaching so much
of them including git headers and statistics doesn't make the job any
easier.

[It would be a good thing if we established a policy for reviewing
series of patches git-style, with one message per patch. It is so
convenient when it is done right.]

A quick glance reveals no terrible things, so if you tested your changes
with the cmake build it is okay with me.
