I was using a snapshot of upstream clang 4.0 (commits from at the end of July).
I just checked that r277501 is the fix for this error. Thank you for the
information. I was using the snapshot a bit time-lagged because the TOT clang
also has other assertion failures when used to compile the aosp master.

Anyways, this issue is gone now. I will mark this bug report as resolved.
