After various trial and tribulations, I've determined that automake just isn't
a good fit for LLVM. LLVM doesn't fit the target application to which automake
would be suited. While automake has several targets that LLVM needs, the
correct approach will be to improve the existing GNU Make based makefile
system to provide the things automake would have given us. Consequently, this
bug is closed as WONTFIX.
