Another aspect of this is that web browsers seam to be used in all sorts of 
devices nowdays, recently using relatively small screens. In some cases 
that means that you may have to scroll the entire window to the right 
before you can start read. I am far from being a usability expert so maybe 
there are good reasons for that.

Must say that the web site looks great by the way.
