This LGTM modulo a few comments. I'll double-check the PR again after you've applied them but this should be ready. Thanks for the patch and for your display of patience with us during this review -- I thought this would be really problematic until I realized we could use `__config_site` to solve most of the problems I saw with the patch initially.
