You're right. I was following the git monorepo layout and instructions 
from 
<http://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html#for-developers-to-work-with-a-git-monorepo>.

I do now have something that appears to work though, but I'll try again 
with the right layout and see if that works straight away or not.
