I apologise profusely -- I didn't intend to send that to the whole list, only to encourage James, who has clearly spent a lot of time on this. I have seen plenty of great patches (not specifically on this project) that started off well but never went anywhere due to lack of perseverance from the contributor. Of course the discussion is absolutely necessary, you are entirely correct. Sorry again for the drama. :-(
