[cfe-dev] Please apply 6 week old patch

Thanks for the ping, applied/fixed here:

It has a warning, because I think this is pretty grotty behavior. Once
the driver starts honoring diagnostic switches I will consider moving
it to -Wall or -pedantic, if it irritates users enough.
