Gold svn as of two weeks ago didn't build on FreeBSD - I don't know of  
anyone who has built it on a non-Linux platform.  The GPLv3 means that  
it is unlikely to ever make it into the FreeBSD base system.  Maybe  
someone will write a BSDL linker soon...
