  Regarding your comment above I wouldn't say there's no interest in getting a way for address spaces to interact with C++ properly, but I think that probably requires a lot more thought than just solving the initial issues. So I think you've done the right thing here in tackling just the really pressing issues in this patch. This LGTM, and it would be good to get this bug-fix to trunk and, if possible, 3.4.
