Not at all. I wanted to discuss how things *should* work, in order to
eventually fix this. Our automated builds do currently run the test suite in
freestanding mode, and I wanted to verify that this is a desirable thing
before changing the test suite in that direction.

I'll chat sometime w/ ddunbar about the best way to separate and structure
the platform-dependent tests.
