[CIR] Fix record layout for a union with no storage type (#213591)
A union whose CIR type ends up with no members keeps its whole size in
its
padding field, and `UnionType::getTypeSizeInBits` returned early in
exactly that
case, before reaching the padding. A union need not look empty in the
source to
land there: a lone zero-length bitfield is dropped during lowering,
leaving the
same no-storage state.
A record embedding such a union was then laid out wrong. In an unpacked
record
`insertPadding` pads whenever the end of the members placed so far,
rounded up
to the next member's alignment, falls short of that member's offset, so
a union
measuring zero earns a pad the AST layout does not have. In C++,
`struct { union {} e; int x; }` loaded `x` from byte 8 rather than 4,
and an
array of that struct had a 12-byte stride, not 8. With the union
`alignas(16)`,
the load came from byte 32 rather than 16.
The zero also reached `lowerUnion`, which sizes a union's padding as its
layout
size less its storage member's, so `union { union {} e; }` emitted a
two-byte
type for a one-byte union.
Sum the storage and padding contributions instead of returning early.
The
has-storage path is unchanged, and a C empty union stays at size zero
because it
has no padding field to add.
`UnionType::getABIAlignment` keeps its early return. Union padding is
always a
char or an array of char, so folding it in cannot change the alignment
of
anything CIRGen emits.

[Flang][OpenMP][OpenMPIRBuilder] Implement module scope declare target use rewrite mechanism (#212920)
During lowering of declare target'd variables we generate new global
variables for device that replace the use of the pre-existing global
variable. In Flang we currently rewrite this for each target region, but
that's not enough to cover indirect use cases inside of declare target
functions which can be imported into the module and utilised inside of a
target region. This PR tries to extend the scope of the rewriting to the
module than a per target region rewrite.
It does so by creating a mechanism where we can register globals for
replacement which will trigger on finalization of the OMPIRBuilder. This
is required as due to the ordering of lowering for MLIR, where we
generate the replacement global at the beginning of the module before
any uses have been generated, effectively meaning we cannot replace the
uses at that point. So, we defer the replacement to the OMPIRBuilder as
there is no deferral mechanism directly in the OpenMP MLIR lowering.
The alternative might be to rebind the global maps in ModuleTranslation
(which requires extending ModuleTranslation a bit and might not be
looked apon as a great alteration from the MLIR community) so that the
old global points to the new one, but in practice this doesn't work
particularly well for declare target link/usm variables as they
neccesitate a load and the act of rebinding the global doesn't indicate
to the lowering that the load is required. So, the OMPIRBuilder method
allows us more flexibility to make this (and other) required
alterations.

[MC][X86] Reintroduce aligned instruction bundling (#175830)
Aligned bundling partitions instructions into fixed-size, naturally
aligned groups called bundles and guarantees that no instruction
crosses a bundle boundary, giving the instruction stream a single
canonical decoding. It is a building block for software-based fault
isolation: control flow cannot jump into the middle of an instruction
to manufacture a different, unchecked sequence, and when combined with
masking of indirect branch targets it constrains control flow to a
statically verifiable set of locations.
The previous target-independent implementation was removed in #148781,
which simplified MC by eliminating per-fragment BundlePadding, the
virtual emitInstToData, and BundleGroupBeforeFirstInst. This change
reimplements the feature in the X86 backend on top of the existing
MCBoundaryAlignFragment infrastructure added for branch alignment,
keeping the generic MC surface smaller:
* AsmParser parses .bundle_align_mode, .bundle_lock and .bundle_unlock
and dispatches them through new MCStreamer hooks.
* MCAssembler holds the bundle size, MCObjectStreamer tracks whether a
locked group is open, and MCBoundaryAlignFragment gains an
align_to_end bit. No new per-fragment padding state.
* Padding is decided at layout time by computeBoundaryAlignSize, which
pads only when an instruction or a locked group would cross a
boundary, and NOP emission goes through writeControlledNops.
* X86AsmBackend opens a boundary-align fragment for each instruction, or
one for a whole bundle-locked group, and reports the group size error
at layout.
Improvements over the prior implementation:
* NOPs never span a bundle boundary.
* Labels never move.
* Bundle locks may not nest.
* Padding can be folded into neighboring instructions as otherwise
ignored prefixes rather than standalone NOPs, reusing the existing
--x86-pad-max-prefix-size option. Padding is only ever traded within
the bundle that holds it, so nothing moves across a boundary.
* No codegen change and no extra layout work when the directives are not
used.
Bundling is supported for X86 ELF only and the directives are rejected
elsewhere. Restrictions: bundle mode may be set once per file and cannot
be changed or turned off, it is incompatible with -x86-align-branch and
-mbranches-within-32B-boundaries, locked groups are allowed only in
executable sections, must fit within one bundle, must be closed before a
section change, and may not end in a bare instruction prefix.
Documented in llvm/docs/AlignedBundling.rst, with tests in
llvm/test/MC/X86/AlignedBundling.

[flang][cuda] Only register module variables defined in the current translation unit (#213720)
CUFAddConstructor registered every CUF module variable mirrored in the
GPU module, including variables brought in with USE from another
translation unit. Without relocatable device code each translation unit
has its own device module, so registering a declaration binds the host
address to a module that does not contain the symbol, and a later
cudaGetSymbolAddress fails with cudaErrorInvalidSymbol or
cudaErrorSymbolNotFound. Under unified memory the same declaration is
registered as host memory, overriding the defining unit's device
registration.
Skip globals that have no initializer and no body. Non-allocatable
managed globals still register, since they go through a companion
pointer local to the translation unit.

[OpenMP][Clang] Enable `ATTACH`-style maps for mappers. (#210213)
This is a follow-up to #153683 to support OpenMP compliant
pointer-attachment
in `declare_mappers` via `ATTACH`-style maps.
In addition to enabling attach-style maps, we also need to propagate
information about
which map entries are for "pointee" data, i.e. have an "attach-ptr", and
thus occupy a different storage block than the base variable for which
the mapper is being generated. e.g.
```c
S sa[10];
#pragma omp declare_mapper (default: S s) map (s.x, s.p[0:10])
#pragma omp target_enter_data map(sa)
```
The entry emitted for `s.p[0:10]` is for the pointee, i.e. it does not
share storage with `s`.
Mapper codegen needs to know that the entry for `sa[1].p[0:10]`, for
example, is not a `MEMBER_OF` the map of `sa`, as it occupies its own
storage and has its own ref-count tracking etc.
Flang currently passes an unconditional `PreserveMemberofFlags` bool to
the OMPIRBuilder function, which should eventually be propagated to
using the per-entry information so that `map(s%x)` should get MEMBER_OF
during mapper codgen, but `map(s%p(1:10))` should not. Currently, the
per-entry MapInfo field is set to `false` for flang, so the change is a
no-op for it. I don't have enough flang expertise/testing resources, so
I'll let Andrew update Flang in follow-up changes.

[AMDGPU] Support partial and empty WWM pools for SGPR spills (#213491)
SGPR lane spilling currently treats the WWM VGPR pool as all-or-nothing.
This can fail compilation when the requested pool cannot be formed, even
though scratch spilling or a smaller spillable pool could make progress.
This PR lets ordinary SGPR spills fall back to scratch when the pool is
empty and lets WWM register allocation use a nonempty partial pool. It
keeps the full-pool requirement for strict WWM/WQM and explicit
spill-carrier preallocation.
The no-pool fallback is recorded in SIMachineFunctionInfo so frame
lowering can provide enough emergency scavenging slots. The state is
also serialized to preserve the behavior across MIR round trips.
Fixes LCOMPILER-2542.

[SimplifyCFG] Do not thread branches into uncontrolled convergent regions (#204958)
SimplifyCFG's foldCondBranchOnValueKnownInPredecessor redirects a

common cycle, this can change the cycle structure and with it the
dynamic instance of an uncontrolled convergent operation inside that
cycle.
On targets with branch divergence, this PR skips the candidate when the
destination can reach an uncontrolled convergent call on a path back to
the bypassed block. Operations using convergence control tokens are left
alone.

[RISCV] Reduce spill/reload pairs when Xqcilo extension is enabled (#212807)
[RISCV] Reduce spill/reload pairs when Xqcilo extension is enabled
Currently, `SelectAddrRegImm26` calls `SelectAddrFrameIndex` first,
causing bare frame-index loads (offset 0) to select 48-bit loads/stores at
ISel. Due to `AddedComplexity=2` on the QC48LdPat patterns, the wide
opcode won over the standard LW/SW even though the resolved frame offset
typically fits simm12.
This led to more spills and reloads in functions which are under high
register pressure because 48-bit loads and stores are not marked easily
rematerializable. Also, simply adding 48-bit loads and stores to
`isLoadFromStackSlot/isStoreToStackSlot` doesn't solve the regression
for the multi call case and only by making Isel produce the plain
32/64-bit loads and store opcodes as the baseline does RA behave
identically.
Therefor this PR fixes the issue by:
-Remove the `SelectAddrFrameIndex` call from SelectAddrRegImm26. Bare frame
indices now fall through to standard LW/SW selection at ISel, where RA
recognizes them as rematerializable stack loads.
-Add post-RA promotion in `eliminateFrameIndex`: when a plain LW/SW has a
resolved frame offset that exceeds simm12, promote the opcode to
the corresponding 48-bit load/store opcode and fold the 26-bit offset
directly. This preserves the intended large-offset optimization
without affecting RA decisions.
This solves the code size regression in high register pressure function
introduced by PR #209315

[libc++][pstl] Implementation of parallel std::reverse() based on parallel for_each (#213487)
This PR implements a parallel version of `std::reverse()` based on the
parallel `__for_each()`.
The implementation walks the first half of the range in chunks, each
chunk is swapped with its mirrored counterpart via `std::swap_ranges()`
and `std::reverse_iterator<>`:
```c++
// Perform a chunked for_each on the first half of the range.
return __cpu_traits<_Backend>::__for_each(
first, first + (last - first) / 2, [first, last](ForwardIterator i, ForwardIterator j) {
// Derive the last position of the mirrored range.
ForwardIterator mirror_last = last - (i - first);
// Swap the elements in the range of the first half with their mirrored counterparts in the second half.
std::swap_ranges(i, j, std::reverse_iterator<ForwardIterator>(mirror_last));
});
```
Included tests check that:
- Semantics of the function is correct.
- The function correctly SFINAE out when the first argument is not an
execution policy.
- The `noexcept` policy is followed.
- `static_assert` verifies iterators' categories.

[libc++][pstl] Implementation of parallel std::is_sorted_until() based on std::adjacent_find() (#213445)
This PR adds implementation of a parallel `std::is_sorted_until()` based
on the parallel `std::adjacent_find()` and rebases the parallel
`std::is_sorted()` onto `std::is_sorted_until()`.
The implementation is effectively a one-liner:
```c++
// Find the first pair of adjacent elements that are not in sorted order,
// i.e. comp(rhs, lhs) is true.
auto res = AdjacentFind()(policy, std::move(first), last, [&](Ref lhs, Ref rhs) {
return comp(rhs, lhs);
});
```
Included tests check that:
- Semantics of the iterator-only version is correct.
- Semantics of the predicated version is correct.
- The functions correctly SFINAE out when the first argument is not an
execution policy.
- The `noexcept` policy is followed.
- The `nodiscard` policy is followed.
- `static_assert` verifies iterators' categories.

features and size features which need to clamp to the common minimum.

[libc] Add a C unit test framework wrapper and convert existing tests (#213657)
This removes the dependency on the host C library (hermetic tests),
makes sure the tests actually do something in release builds (where
assert() is a noop), and makes better and more consistent failure
messages.
This is just a thin wrapper over the existing framework which repackages
the C++ interface into something consumable by C code. I tried to keep
the interface consistent, but of course, many of the framework features
are C++ only. Registering more than one test function was tricky, so the
framework currently supports only one.
The main trick here was getting the static library linker to extract
LibcCTest.cpp.o from libLibcTest.unit.a. Since C test cases don't
instantiate static CTest objects in their own translation unit like C++
tests do (they cannot do that portably), nothing in the object file
referenced LibcCTest.cpp. I made this work by introducing
libc_c_test_anchor() and calling it explicitly inside the generated
libc_c_test_run() function.

- I added value_or (const & and && overloads) to cpp::optional and added

[libc] Add program_invocation(_short)_name and tweak err.h functions (#212448)
These GNU extensions hold the name of the program as invoked (argv[0])
and its short name (the basename after the last slash).
Both variables are initialized in the startup code. As with all of our
other variables, they are only available in full build mode.
The trickiest part of this patch are the error reporting functions from
<err.h>, which access this variable, and they are currently enabled in
overlay mode. To make them work, I add an #ifdef to select the right
version. I considered doing something more elaborate, like we have with
`errno`, but that seemed too heavy for a single occurrence.
I also drop the linux check in this function. The documentation says the
functions should print the "last component of the program name", which
"llvmlibc" is not. If someone wants to enable these functions on
non-linux, they can figure out what they want to print here and how.

empty name, making InstrProfSymtab::create return an error
The current solution with `(void)(bool)` does not really suppress the
error which leads to the crash

[lldb][Mach-O] Fix load-command loops spinning on cmdsize = 0 (#205134)
Every function in `ObjectFileMachO` and `ObjectContainerMachOFileset`
that iterates over load commands advances the file offset by
`lc.cmdsize` after reading each command. A malformed command with
cmdsize smaller than `sizeof(load_command)` (in particular cmdsize = 0)
does not make forward progress, so the loop spins for ncmds iterations.
With `ncmds` close to `INT_MAX` the function never returns in practice.
Factor the read-and-validate step into a static template helper
`ReadMachOCommand<T>` in each plugin's translation unit. It reads the
8-byte cmd/cmdsize header and returns false on EOF or on a cmdsize that
is too small to make forward progress. All load-command loops now use
this helper, replacing the previously duplicated GetU32 + cmdsize
check. `T` may be `llvm::MachO::load_command` or any of its richer
variants (uuid_command, dylib_command, thread_command, ident_command,
encryption_info_command, ...). The helper only touches the leading
cmd/cmdsize fields, leaving the rest of `T` for the caller to fill in.
Affected loops in `ObjectFileMachO`:
IsStripped, GetEncryptedFileRanges, CreateSections, ParseSymtab,
GetUUID (static), GetAllArchSpecs (two loops), GetDependentModules,
GetEntryPointAddress, GetNumThreadContexts, FindLC_NOTEByName,
GetIdentifierString, GetVersion, FindMinimumVersionInfo
And in ObjectContainerMachOFileset:
ParseFileset
Add unit tests (`ObjectFileMachOTest::ZeroCmdSize` and
`ObjectContainerMachOFilesetTest::ZeroCmdSize`) that feed a 40-byte
Mach-O with `ncmds = 0x7FFFFFFF` and `cmdsize = 0` into the relevant
parsers. Without the fix the tests spin ~2 billion iterations; with
the fix they return immediately. Found by lldb-target-fuzzer.

[flang][OpenMP] Lower allocator-backed storage for allocate clauses (#211621)
Part of #211620.
This is the first of two stacked changes implementing OpenMP `allocate`
clause lowering for fixed-size intrinsic scalar `private` and
`firstprivate` items on host `omp.parallel`.
It carries each allocate item’s private-storage mapping through the
OpenMP dialect, allocates with the requested allocator (using the
runtime default for an omitted or null handle), and releases the storage
during region finalization.
The `align` modifier is handled by the stacked follow-up.

So switch the checkout step to use llvm/llvm-project as the remote.

[LV] Add vplan folds for urem(X, PowerOf2) -> and(X, PowerOf2 - 1) (#212198)
In this PR I've added support for the vplan fold:
urem(X, Y) -> and(X, Y - 1)
when Y is a power of 2. This should reduce the cost of the urem and
ensure the vplan is accurately costed. Such a change would normally
affect over 300 test files due to this being a common pattern in the
vector preheader. For now, I've limited the scope to only simplifying
occurences that are not in the vector preheader. In a follow-on PR I
will extend this to add support for
sub(X, urem(X, Y)) -> and(X, -Y)
as well permitting folds in the preheader.

[lldb][debugserver] Expedite the stopped frame's stack memory in jThreadsInfo (#212706)
Add `ReadFrameZeroStackMemory`, which expedites the innermost frame's stack
memory so a variables view on a stop is served from lldb's memory cache. When
frame 0's `$fp` looks usable, two windows are expedited:
* `[$fp + 2*ptr_size, $fp + 2*ptr_size + k_expedite_stack_arg_size)` for stack-passed
parameters, starting above the saved `{fp, lr}` pair the backchain already covers.
* `[$fp - below, $fp)`, `below = min($fp - $sp, k_expedite_stack_window - k_expedite_stack_arg_size)`,
for locals and spilled register arguments. A small frame gets all of `[$sp, $fp)`; a large one keeps the part nearest `$fp`, so the cost stays bounded.
If `$fp` fails validation (frameless leaf, or `$fp` used as a scratch GPR),
a single `[$sp, $sp + k_expedite_stack_window)` window is expedited instead.
Each window is a separate chunk, because lldb's L1 cache only serves reads
fully contained in one expedited chunk. Only the thread that stopped gets
these windows, so the stop reply does not grow with thread count.
`GetJSONThreadsInfo` now builds the `"memory"` array from both sources and
emits it whenever either produced an entry. Add `JSONGenerator::Array::empty`
for that check.

[AArch64] Fold zero-interleave shuffle into vector shift left (#210793)
A shuffle mask that interleaves zeros between every other byte element
is equivalent to a vector shift left on a wider element type. This
avoids generating a `tbl` instruction with a constant mask loaded from
memory, replacing it with a single `shl` instruction.
Before:
```asm
adrp x8, .LCPI0_0
ldr q1, [x8, :lo12:.LCPI0_0]
tbl v0.16b, { v0.16b }, v1.16b
```
After:
```asm
shl v0.8h, v0.8h, #8
```
Both `<16 x i8>` and `<8 x i8>` vectors are handled. The canonicalized
form where zeros appear in either the first or second shuffle operand is
also handled.

[NFC][analyzer] Extract general logic in security.ArrayBound (#210774)
The checker `security.ArrayBound` contains general-purpose logic that
will be useful to bring other bounds checking checkers out of `alpha`
stage. This change refactors the implementation of `security.ArrayBound`
to separate the general-purpose logic and the concrete details that are
only relevant in that particular checkers.
Shortly after merging this, a follow-up commit will move the
general-purpose code to separate files. (This is left out of this change
to ensure continuity in the git history: this commit renames and
reorganizes functions, the next one will move them with minimal
changes.)
Note that after this commit the `ProgramState` associated with the error
nodes created by `security.ArrayBound` will be slightly different in
some cases (they may have different constraints) but the state of a sink
node is practically unused, so this does not cause any functional
changes.

[flang][OpenMP] Lower align modifiers on allocate clauses (#211624)
Closes #211620.
Stacked on #211621.
This adds `align` modifier lowering to the host `omp.parallel` path
introduced by the parent change. It carries and verifies per-item
alignment metadata and uses aligned runtime allocation when alignment is
specified, while retaining the unaligned path otherwise.
Other clause-bearing constructs and unsupported data types remain out of
scope.

[InstCombine] Rebuild type-changing PHIs in PointerReplacer (#212429)
PointerReplacer mutates PHI types when replacing an alloca with a
pointer in another address space. Mutating a value type in place can
invalidate existing users whose result types or operand constraints were
formed from the original pointer type.
For example:
```
%p = phi ptr addrspace(5) [ %a, %bb0 ], [ %b, %bb1 ]
%g = getelementptr i8, ptr addrspace(5) %p, i64 1
```
Changing `%p` to `ptr addrspace(4)` leaves the existing GEP result in
`AS5` while its pointer operand is now in `AS4`. (This is what exposed
the bug). This triggered:
https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/0bcff14b1740cf32f9e0983726238dcf353c6ac8/llvm/lib/IR/Operator.cpp#L129-L131
Create a new PHI when the replacement changes type so existing users
remain attached to the original well-typed graph while PointerReplacer
builds their replacements. Preserve in-place operand updates when the
PHI type is unchanged.

[mlir][tensor] Preserve encoding in more canonicalizers (pad, convertToStaticExpandShape) (#207241)
Fixes encoding drop in `tensor.*` canonicalizers.
Patterns that only refine a tensor's shape (never merge/combine data)
now propagate the encoding: `ConvertToStaticExpandShape`,
`PadOp::inferResultType` (and its callers `FoldSourceTensorCast`,
`FoldStaticPadding`). An encoding implementing
`VerifiableTensorEncoding` is re-verified against the refined shape and
dropped if invalid (e.g. sparse); an opaque encoding (no interface) is
propagated as-is.
Patterns that merge/combine tensors (`ConcatOp::inferResultType`,
`InferConcatOperandTypes`, `CollapseShapeOp::inferCollapsedType`) keep
the existing drop-encoding behavior - there's no static way to verify an
arbitrary encoding survives a merge or rank change when dynamic dims are
involved.
Documents this contract on `VerifiableTensorEncoding` in
`TensorEncoding.td`.

[mlir][tensor] Preserve source encoding when folding insert_slice canonicalizers (#207239)
`InsertSliceOpConstantArgumentFolder` re-derives the refined source type
via `ExtractSliceOp::inferCanonicalRankReducedResultType`, which copies
the encoding of the passed-in "source template" - in this pattern,
`insertSliceOp.getDestType()`.
For a static, encoding-less destination this silently drops any encoding
the actual source carried, which downstream dialects can use for
mandatory metadata (upper bounds, layout, sparsity descriptors) lost
during `--canonicalize`.
Rebuild the refined source type carrying the original source's encoding.
If the encoding implements `VerifiableTensorEncoding`, re-verify it
against the refined shape and drop it if it no longer holds (e.g. a
rank-dependent sparse encoding); otherwise treat it as
opaque/shape-agnostic and propagate it unconditionally.
Shape refinement (the `?` -> static direction) is unchanged and still
satisfies `preservesStaticInformation`.

[offload] allow h2h olMemcpy with a queue (#212757)
olMemcpy currently disallows host-to-host copies with a queue, even
though that is a desirable use case (e.g. to copy a buffer as a
dependency for another operation)
This PR adds support for asynchronous host-to-host copies by adding
`GenericDeviceTy::dataMemcpy` and the corresponding required
`dataMemcpyImpl` plugin operation. Unlike `dataSubmit`, `dataRetrieve`,
and `dataExchange`, this operation does not assign a device direction to
either pointer:
- CUDA: Uses `cuMemcpyAsync`, which by itself determines the pointer
types and preserves stream ordering. Dynamic CUDA symbol declarations
and `_v2` lookup support are included.
- Level Zero: Uses the existing queue `memoryCopy` operation (backed by
`zeCommandListAppendMemoryCopy`), which appends a memory-copy command to
the command list.
- AMDGPU: No "enqueue a host-to-host copy" operation exists directly in
that API, so we enqueue a `std::memcpy` callback through
`pushHostCallback`.
- Host: Call `memcpy` directly.
The `olMemcpy` API documentation now states that queued host-to-host
copies are ordered with other work in the queue. The public function
signature is unchanged.
A new unit test executes an `h2d -> d2h -> h2h -> h2d -> d2h` operation
chain, which should fail if the queue order isn't respected.

[LLDB] Serve unknown type symbols through `qSymbol` for non-MachO targets (#200134)
I am working with a binary where some symbols are generated from linker
scripts. They end up identified as `eSymbolInvalid` when loaded in LLDB.
OpenOCD can try to fetch them.
Some might even be hard-coded data, not going through an address in the
binary (explaining the presence of the check and raw value
return).
Testing it showed that **GDB returns them despite them not being proper
addresses**.
These can also be generated by C++ static constexpr, such values could
be accessed by a qSymbol query.
358cf1ea302eb introduced a divergence between GDB and LLDB where LLDB
does not serve symbols of unknown type through GDB protocol command
`qSymbol`. Per commit description, this is an expected behavior on
MachO-based platforms, but it is not on ELF-based platforms, where LLDB
should follow GDB. The changes introduced by said commit are now gated
behind an architecture check.

[SLP]Fix scheduling of absorbed copyable fmuls, modeled as fmuladd(a, b, -0.0)
A copyable fmul absorbed into fmuladd(a, b, -0.0) does not appear in
the operand columns of its own node, so the operand scan never
released the schedule data of the copyable instruction itself and
scheduling ended with unscheduled bundles. Release it explicitly when
the copyable element shows up in no operand column.
