I think you need to wait for some of the maintainers of the x86 backend to
chime in before moving forward. They're CC'ed and should respond, but we
need to make sure there is reasonable consensus here.

It would help a lot to provide the kind of road map Derek asked for. I
think that is exactly the right next step for you.

Finally, I would suggest sending the road map in a separate thread to
llvmdev. You can mention this code review, but you really want to get a
wider awareness of the direction and work you're planning to do here. Part
of that would be helped by going back and reading the email threads in the
past on the x32 backend work. They have important information that you
should probably address in your roadmap.
