 From what I know, register scavenging just helps us on finding a GPR, 
right? (forgive my little compilation knowledge). In the code below, I'm 
just using the fact that a bit is in a CR field, so I save the entire field.

And yes, this is very inefficient. The only place where LLVM uses a CR 
bit (variadic call in ELF/ppc32) requires clobbering the register field 
because the scheduler does not take into account expensive register 
copies. If it did take into account, the cr bit to use would be correct 
and no clobbering would be needed, eg:

instead of
creqv 8, 8, 8 (instruction needed by variadi call)
cror 6, 8, 8 (do the copy)

we should emit
creqv 6, 6, 6
