    It would be great if llvm had a precompiled release artifact that is more portable (does not require glibc, ld and other dynamic libraries to be installed on the system).
In particular, this would help hermetic build systems like Bazel and portable cross-compilation efforts.

Is this generally something that would be accepted? I might be able to help implement this, if desired.
