This:
r300897 Enable lsan test suite on Darwin x86_64 builds

caused multiple darwin bot failures:

Until it was reverted in r300929.

But it turns out this isn't trivially reproducible locally: Francis and I
haven't been able to (and I tried 10.11.6 hosts to match the bot).  Let's
figure out what's going on.
