After some more testing it seems that:

1) crash occurs when LLVM is compiled with
gcc (SUSE Linux) 4.3.4 [gcc-4_3-branch revision 152973]

2) and DOES NOT occur when LLVM is compiled with
gcc (GCC) 4.6.4 20120720 (prerelease)

So, marking bug RESOLED/INVALID for now.
